Amangiri Desert Oasis: A Wedding Retreat at Nature’s Edge

Oct 13, 2024
Nestled in the vast, rugged beauty of the Utah desert, Amangiri Resort provided the awe-inspiring backdrop for this unforgettable wedding celebration. The vision of Jesse Tombs, renowned designer, came to life through a blend of luxury and nature. Four unique venues across the resort were transformed to host various moments of this multi-day event, with each space blending seamlessly with the breathtaking landscape.

One of the weekend’s highlights was the custom-built hilltop reception platform. Set against stunning sandstone formations, this space was not just a venue but a masterpiece in itself. Hensley Pavilions and a custom-designed bar provided both elegance and functionality, while the remote kitchen facilities and changing rooms ensured everything ran smoothly, no matter the distance from typical amenities.

The design was bold yet harmonious with the surroundings. The Middle Eastern-themed lobby draping set the tone for an exotic escape, while artwork displayed over the pool created a balance of luxury and desert minimalism. Even the rugged terrain couldn’t stop this installation—despite challenging conditions like getting a 4-wheel drive vehicle stuck in the sand!

But the real magic lay in the collaborative spirit between Hensley Event Resources and Jesse Tombs. As Michael Douglas reflects, “Working with designers like Jesse is a treat. His artistic vision allowed us creative freedom, while the colors and textures he chose blended perfectly with the desert’s natural beauty.” The execution was flawless, proving once again that with the right team and solid planning, even the most remote and challenging locations can host the most extraordinary events.

The key to success in this project? Pre-production logistics. The team not only had a clear plan but also prepared for curveballs that inevitably came up in this challenging environment. The result? A weekend wedding retreat that will be etched in the memories of the couple and their guests for years to come.
